Paralegals are permitted by the Law Society of Ontario to represent clients in a variety of legal fields. This scope has been expanded to increase accessibility to justice, presenting a more affordable option when possible. 

You can be represented before tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board, Human Rights Tribunal, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and more. You can also be represented for Provincial Offences Court violations, in Small Claims Court, and summary offences punishable by no more than two years less a day and/or a $5,000 fine. We also provide notary services, which include all services provided by a commissioner of oaths. 

If you cannot be represented by a paralegal, you will be told during your free consultation.

We will reach out to you at the phone number provided at the time scheduled. After a conflict of interest check, we will go over the specifics of your case and the next actions.

If your case is actionable and you would like to be represented by us, you will be sent a retainer letter detailing the scope that we will operate under. You will also receive instructions for the initial monetary deposit required to begin working, also known as the retainer.

The cost of your matter will differ depending on the matter itself.  We will either use a flat fee OR an hourly rate of $60/hour. You can navigate to the field-specific pages at the top of the screen to see more details about cost depending on the matter.

You will be given an exact quote at the end of your free consultation. Rest assured that your quote will never exceed our dedicated caps on cost, which can be found at the same website pages as above.

Yes!

Paralegals have an increased scope in Ontario to make justice more accessible to the general public. To advance this goal, we are very flexible with payment plans and keep them INTEREST-FREE!

If you would like a payment plan, the terms of the plan will be set out in your retainer. As such, please let your paralegal know at the end of the consultation.

If you cannot book a consultation during our office hours, please email admin@magnolialegal.ca with your name, phone number, the name of the other party, and what times you may be available through the week.

If there is no conflict of interest, we can schedule a consultation call outside of our typical office hours and continue with email correspondence during office hours should you choose to move forward with us.

We currently do not accept cash. Payments can be made by debit, credit, or e-transfer while we work on introducing cash payments.
